Me: I’m a mid 30s mother, wife and web developer. I’m from Chapel Hill, NC but now live in Cary with my husband Jeff and our daughter Hayley. My interests include photography, sports, blogging, reading, our dogs, Carolina sports and tons of other stuff. I own a small company that produces sports websites. I spend the rest of my time shuttling Hayley around to the pile of activities she does - soccer, basketball, riding, Kumon, reading and more. I’ll watch almost any sport where people compete. I love to take photos, read, working on my side online projects, be crafty and playing with the pups. I like to cook but don’t do it enough in the way I like. I despite laundry.
I’ve had a website since 1996 and a blog since 2002. My first blog on adoption (WRAL Blog on Adoption) was at blogger and in partnership with a local TV station that I used to work for years ago on some sports websites. Well they decided to move in house with their blogs at the same time blogger went to beta with the new sites. They exported it to the TV station site but we lost accessing the blogger stuff at all. I like being on the TV stations site and I love the reach into the community they give me to talk about adoption but I missed the interaction of blogrolls, designing the site, etc so I’m moving everything to this WP site and the TV station will just link to this blog. Hopefully the best of both worlds because I feel like anything we can do to keep the topic of foster adoption out there is a good thing.
Jeff: We met in 1995 when I took a job where he was working (and still does). I fell in love instantly, him a bit slower. We’ve been married since 1998. Jeff is a Virginia Tech grad (and fan) from Blacksburg where his folks still live. He is an accountant and I adore him for many reasons, one big one being how much we still laugh together and a goofy one being how he can grab or reach anything.
Hayley: Our wonderful, funny, smart, dramatic, athletic, talkative, stubborn, strong and lovely all wrapped in one dynamic eight year old girl. Our daughter is adopted in what has become a pretty much open adoption and are working on having her birth family as part of our extended family. Hayley loves all things princess and sports. She has never met something pink or a something you throw, shoot or hit that she doesn’t like. She loves soccer, basketball, horseback riding, dogs, math, dancing, the drums, the Tar Heels, Disney, swimming, Hannah Montana, Just Jump In, HS Musical and about 1000 other things including everything on TV commercials.

Thank you for your input on Adoptees seek open records. I am the person who was the main subject and I am very appreciative of all support for these bills. I would like to ask if you could possibly get WRAL to show some interest and maybe run the same story. Just thought I would ask. We can use all the positive support possible. The group I am a part of that was not mentioned is NC Coalition for Adoption Reform. Thanks again for your support.

Hi,
I was reading your blog and I thought you might be someone with a moving story, or stories, to tell within the adoption realm. We are looking for manuscripts to publish. I work for a small faith-based publishing company in Indianapolis, Indiana, and we are actively seeking new authors for traditional publishing. We seek inspiring/motivating and instructional/reference manuscripts across a variety of genres including nonfiction, fiction, children’s books, and textbooks. We want to publishg the kind of stories that positively impact people and even change lives. If you have a manuscript to submit, please visit our company online at http://www.powerpublishinginc.com for our easy submission guidelines and more information about us and what we publish. Thanks.
